Description

To see the glory of Christ is one of the greatest privileges that a Christian can enjoy. Anyone who does not see his glory in this world, will not see his glory in heaven, and no one should look for anything in heaven that he has not experienced in this life. Just as looking directly into the sun darkens our vision, so Christ's heavenly splendour is too brilliant for our mind's eye, but in seeing it by faith, we are prepared for heaven. In his immense essence, the infinite God is invisible to our finite human eyes, and will remain so for eternity. Only "in the face of Jesus Christ" can we see God and be filled with peace and rest.

Read this book, and may God by his Word and Spirit give you such a sense of his uncreated glory, blazing forth in Christ, that you will be satisfied and filled with joy.

This is the orginal text with a new layout and is fully subtitled which makes it more accessible to a new generation of readers!

Reviews

I'm here today, absolutely certain that the subject we ought to think about together is the glory of Christ. And the reason that I was absorbed with it at the time is that I was reading a book and I want to commend that book to you; I think it is one of these sell-your-shirt books that you really need to buy and read. It is of course called the Glory of Christ, and this is a new edition of it. It was written in the seventeenth century by John Owen, probably the greatest of the Puritans. And John Owen's book on the Glory of Christ is the classic writing on that subject. This edition was published five years ago by Christian Focus and we're greatly in the debt of Philip Ross, who is known to some of you, who has edited the book for modern readers. And it is really made infinitely easier to read. I do commend it to you. It has one other notable feature and that is an introduction by Sinclair Ferguson explaining who Owen was and how to read his book...I commend that book to you very warmly and anything that I've learned of the Glory of Christ you will find elaborated considerably there.

Eric Alexander ~ Conference speaker and formerly minister St George's Tron, Glasgow for 20 years.

'Take time to read this book. Savour each page. Appreciate the depths of what Owen says. Allow yourself to be analysed, searched, exposed, deconstructed, edified, enlightened, engraced, and refocused on the glory of Jesus Christ.'

Sinclair B. Ferguson ~ Senior Minister, First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina

This beautifully produced reprint, with translations of Owen's Latin by Angus Morrison and a summary introduction by Sinclair Ferguson is an honour to its publishers. With key passages highlighted, unfamiliar terms explained, and plenty of ‘light' between headed paragraphs, it is a joy to read. Its contents are beyond recommendation. The divine glory of our Saviour leaves us ‘lost in wonder, love and praise.'

J.M.B ‘Peace and Truth’ 2005:2
