Heart of the Gospel
|
The selection of sermons by Iain D Campbell of the Free Church of Scotland focuses on the themes of the person and work of Christ and the work and welfare of the Christian. They are actually sermon notes, although they read like messages, with an average length of one and a half pages. They are redolent of the theology of the Evangelical Awakening (some of them arose form the Lewis revival) with the emphasis on election and sovereign grace, atonement, propitiation and perseverance. They are fundamentalist in the best sense but unimaginative and clearly suited to the religious heritage of the Scottish islands of a generation ago
Rev. Dr. Iain D. Campbell is pastor of the Free Church of Scotland in Point on the Isle of Lewis. Prior to that he was the pastor of Back Free Church of Scotland, also on Lewis.
