The book of Ecclesiastes acutely observes that a life devoted to self, the accumulation of riches and the pursuit of pleasure is ultimately meaningless - even if you try to dress them up in Christian terms.

Using modern examples and parallels Derek Tidball examines Ecclesiastes and shows that riches and pleasure are neither to be condemned or commended. They are incidental to the ultimate meaning of life, that is to re-establish and enjoy a relationship with God.

Derek Tidball is visiting scholar at Spurgeon's College, London. Previously, he served as principal of the London School of Theology, where he lectured in pastoral theology. He is appreciated as a Bible expositor at conferences and conventions for which he is much in demand.
