Description

Maasai boys love to practice throwing spears, and jumping. One day they will be strong men and leaders of their tribe. Lemayan is excellent with the goats and his father is proud of his capable son.

One dreadful day all that changes and the tribe's way of life hangs in the balance; the drought attacks their pastures; worms attack the cattle and the whole tribe has to sell all their animals. To make matters worse Lemayan falls sick - but no one realises just how sick.

Lemayan only knows the traditional Maasai world... but now he has to live in a different world. What will that different world offer him? Will he be happy? Will anything be as good as looking after animals?

When Lemayan finds out about a Good Shepherd who cares for his sheep he begins another journey of discovery... a journey to yet another world ... a world where the Jesus is King... and where all tribes and peoples are welcome.

About Lorna Eglin

Lorna Eglin is an AIM missionary in South Africa. Her years in Kenya brought her into contact with many Maasai girls just like Nosim. Though Nosim is fictional she is based on real life Maasai girls that Lorna worked alongside during her time in Kenya. These girls went on to be teachers, nurses, and secretaries in modern Kenya. One is the first Maasai lady doctor. Another the wife of Kenya's ambassador to Japan.

Reviews

"It is not as in many children's books simply a matter of easy believism, but an exploration of all that is involved from belief to discipleship to evangelism. All is broken down into simple but powerful illustrations and parables to aid understanding in the young...I reccomend this doctrinally sound and extremely educational children's book, placing it among those of a higher standard which can safely be distributed to the children in the our churches."
