Gavin MacKenzie

Christian Focus Across the Web highlights important news and blog posts related to our books. This week’s highlights are below:

Elizabeth Hankins reviews 365 Great Bible Stories by Carine Mackenzie - This past week Elizabeth Hankins shared a great review of 365 Great Bible Stories:  The Good News of Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation by Carine Mackenzie on The Hankins Family blog (www.hankinsfamily.com).   Here is a bit of what Elizabeth had to say:

"I have to be honest, when I saw that Christian Focus was publishing 365 Great Bible Stories by Carine Mackenzie, my first thought was, "Do we really need another children's Bible?" There are already several excellent children's Bible on the market. However, our family has been incredibly blessed by all of the resources that we have purchased from Christian Focus so I really wanted to look through this children's Bible and compare it to the others that we have come to love.

As expected, Christian Focus did not disappoint."

Cal Larson reviews John Calvin:  After Darkness Light by Catherine Mackenzie - Cal Larson recently featured a review of John Calvin:  After Darkness Light by Catherine Mackenzie on his There & Blog Again book review site (www.thereandblogagain.com). Cal says:

"Catherine Mackenzie gives readers a brief overview of the important events in John Calvin’s life. Filled with turns, Calvin’s life was a constant battle against the obstacles that Satan threw in his path. Mackenzie shows the difficulty of each trial with incredible detail, and gives readers an understanding of the turmoil, and danger of John Calvin’s life.

I particularly like Mackenzie’s way of describing Calvin’s early years. It was a hard time for young Calvin: his mother died before he turned five, he went off to a university at age thirteen, and had to battle through homesickness, and his constantly changing life. The author really gave me a picture of what it was like, to decide to change universities, his pressure from his father, and numerous other things."
