I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Back Leg of a Goat. How can a group of kids raise $50 to purchase a goat for a poor family in India? Tania's best friend with all the great ideas just moved away, but against all obstacles she refuses to give up. With the help of recycled junk they tackle their quest in a way that emphasizes the needs of the family they are trying to help.
Tania is also on a search to understand how she can truly know God. This theme is nicely woven into the story.
Some coincidences may seem a bit contrived to an adult reader, but I doubt they will present a problem to the children who read the story.
