Description

When Darkness Feels Overwhelming, Hope Remains

Suicide leaves behind some of life’s most painful questions. Why did this happen? What does the Bible say about suicide? Is there hope for those who struggle with despair—and for those left grieving?

In God and Suicide, pastor and author Schuyler Vowell addresses these difficult questions with biblical clarity, theological depth, and heartfelt compassion. Written from personal experience and pastoral ministry, this book offers a gospel-centered guide for those wrestling with suicide, mental illness, grief, and the character of God in the midst of tragedy.

Rather than offering simplistic answers, Vowell points readers to the hope found in Jesus Christ—the One who meets the brokenhearted, comforts those who mourn, and promises that death will not have the final word.

Inside, readers will discover:

• What the Bible teaches about suicide and salvation
 • Why suicide is not the unforgivable sin
 • How God’s character remains good in the midst of suffering
 • Biblical encouragement for those battling despair and suicidal thoughts
 • Practical guidance for helping grieving families and friends
 • How churches can become safe places for honest conversations about mental health

Honest, compassionate, and deeply rooted in Scripture, God and Suicide offers comfort to the grieving, hope to the struggling, and confidence in the grace of God that remains even in life’s darkest moments.
