Description

Rediscover the Power of Prayer

Prayer is one of the greatest privileges of the Christian life—and one of its greatest neglected treasures. In The Spirit of Prayer, Puritan pastor Nathaniel Vincent offers a warm, practical, and deeply biblical guide to a life shaped by constant communion with God.

Drawing from Ephesians 6:18, Vincent unfolds what it means to "pray always," showing believers why prayer is essential for spiritual strength, perseverance, holiness, and joy. Far from being a theoretical treatise, these sermons were forged in the fires of persecution and personal suffering, giving them a timeless depth and pastoral warmth that still speaks powerfully today.

Carefully modernised for today's readers while preserving Vincent's rich insights, this new edition makes a classic work on prayer accessible to a new generation. Whether you are struggling to maintain a consistent prayer life or longing for deeper fellowship with God, Vincent points you back to the throne of grace with wisdom, conviction, and hope.

Rich in Scripture, practical in application, and Christ-centred throughout, The Spirit of Prayer is an enduring reminder that the Christian's strength is found not in self-reliance but in humble, persistent dependence upon God.

Endorsements

The Puritans knew what it meant to wrestle with God in secret. Yet of all the spiritual disciplines, prayer is perhaps the hardest to sinful flesh; it tests faith, enrages the devil, and often proves laborious to the languid soul. Still, every true believer can attest to sweet seasons of soul-soothing joy, peace, and refreshment at the throne of grace. It is to that aspiration of deeper, healthier, and livelier prayer that the Puritan pastor Nathaniel Vincent desires to lead us in the plenitude of his experiential applications. If you long for a reinvigorated prayer life, this book will serve as fresh fuel for the flame of your zeal. Read it carefully, pray over it fervently, and apply it with heartfelt dependence on the Spirit!
